20 Ways Covid-19 Completely Changed The Way We See The World

The Pandemic Change Our Lives For Better And For Worse

Covid-19 was the first global pandemic any of us have experienced. From changing the way we educate our kids to the way we socialize, it altered numerous aspects of our lives, and some things never went back to the way it was before. Here are 20 ways Covid-19 changed the way we see the world.

1. We Now Take Being Sick Much More Seriously

If before, a cold wouldn't slow us down, Covid has given us a newfound consideration for germs and contamination. People are a lot more cautious about these things and more often opt to stay in and rest when they feel a tickle in their throat.

2. We Value Our Time Differently

The rise of remote work has allowed us to value our time differently. If before, we would spend an hour in traffic driving to work each day, now we think it sounds like a crazy way to spend our time.

3. We Gained New Appreciation For Human Connection

Being forced into lockdown, we had next to no interaction with other humans. Having this experience has made many of us value socialization more as we see what life is like without it.

4. We Take Health More Seriously

Since Covid, there has been a massive influx in interest around health and wellness with a greater emphasis on holistic and preventative care. Covid disproportionately affected those with underlying conditions so it prompted many to take a more proactive approach to their health and incorporate healthy practices like exercise and nutrition into their lives.

5. We Know Who Our Inner Circle Is

The pandemic made us re-think who is in our inner circle as governments everywhere enforced the "support bubble" rule, in which you could only interact with a small few. For some, it made us reexamine our relationships and value quality over quantity.

6. We Cherish Time With Loved Ones More

The Covid-19 disease took the lives of loved ones. It reminded us how fragile life is and to cherish each moment with those we care about as they can quickly and suddenly be taken away.

Covid-19 necessitated at-home schooling which gave students, teachers, and parents more freedom. It also modernized teaching tools, changing the emphasis from traditional models to skill-based learning.

9. We Gained A Different Perspective On Work-Life Balance

Covid-19 removed a lot of us from the rat race long enough for us to reexamine the way we spent our time. Working from home allowed us to spend more of our days with our family. Not having to commute or even live in one specific place gave us a different approach to life which prioritized our freedom.

10. It Renewed Our Focus On Mental Health

With little to no social interaction and the threat of a deadly disease looming over us, many of us fell into depressive or anxious episodes that we had never before experienced. This made us more aware of our mental health and the importance of self-care.

11. It Politicized Healthcare

Covid-19 brought the political aspect of healthcare into the limelight, with each party having a different approach to vaccines and mandates. What should've been a universally agreed-upon response to an issue affecting all of humanity became a divisive issue, entangled in political ideologies.

12. We Gained A New Appreciation For Essential Workers

From nurses and doctors to delivery drivers, we gained a new appreciation for essential workers who kept us going through the darkest of times. They were celebrated with song, horn honks, and pot and pan drumming.

14. We Became More Connected To Our Community

In many ways, Covid made our worlds smaller. The "we're all in this together" approach fostered solidarity. Without the option of traveling, many of us became more involved in our communities, emphasizing a need to support local businesses and neighborhood aid networks.

17. It Made Us More Sceptical

With politicians, scientists, and news anchors constantly changing the narrative around Covid-19, the pandemic had the unfortunate effect of diminishing our trust in institutions, mainstream medicine, and media. The amount of misinformation and disinformation skyrocketed and left us unsure what and who to believe.

18. It Reminded Us About The Importance Of Science

The swift action of scientists and researchers who unraveled the facts, came up with a plan of action, and developed a vaccine in record time re-emphasized the importance of this discipline. In the face of this global problem, science was the only answer.
